¡World Health Day!
When there is health, everything is easier
The beautiful treasure of health
April 7 2025
It’s said that when you’re healthy, everything else falls into place. Health isn’t just important: it’s perhaps the most important thing. Without it, everything else—work, projects, dreams—is put on hold. Today, April 7, we celebrate World Health Day, a date established by the World Health Organization (WHO) in 1950, in commemoration of its founding in 1948.

Every year, the WHO proposes a theme that invites reflection on a critical aspect of public health. Behind this date lies a clear intention: to remind us that health is a basic human right, not a privilege reserved for a select few. However, even today, millions of people around the world lack access to quality medical care, basic prevention services, or early diagnosis.

This day also encourages us to look beyond hospitals and doctors’ offices. Health is built every day in our homes, workplaces, schools, and communities. According to the WHO, more than 80% of cardiovascular diseases, type 2 diabetes, and many types of cancer could be prevented with lifestyle changes and early access to health services.
Today is also an opportunity to recognize the efforts of healthcare professionals and scientists who, with dedication and resilience, face enormous challenges to protect the lives of others. And to highlight the advances in research, technology, and international cooperation that have enabled historic achievements such as vaccines and access to essential medicines.
Health is the starting point for everything else. Caring for it—at the individual and collective level—not only improves our quality of life but also strengthens our societies and prepares us for a more just and sustainable future.
Because one truth remains true: ¡With health, everything is easier!
